Eat Early, Fast Often: Akshay Kumar’s Wellness Routine at 57

Akshay Kumar Wellness Routine with Khelofun

Akshay Kumar, a star in Bollywood, is known for staying fit, but the actor’s secret to his physical fitness at 57 isn’t grinding at the gym or meal prepping, but his simple and effective regimen that focuses on two things: early eating and the periodic abstention from food.

Akshay Kumar is a validation of the idea that being healthy does not have to be complex, and most, if not all, can experience what he practices without spending on supplements or entertaining programs.

The 6:30 PM Rule of Akshay Kumar

There is one rule that Akshay Kumar will never violate: he always finishes his last meal before 6:30 PM. At a recent book event he shared that this is the best time for his body to function properly.

The actor substantiated this in layman’s terms. When we sleep at night almost every aspect of our body goes to sleep- eyes, legs, hands, etc. But, if you eat late, your stomach will be working all night while you are trying to rest.

Here’s what happens when people eat late according to Akshay Kumar:

  • The stomach works all night processing food while the body tries to rest
  • By morning when it’s time for the stomach to relax, we eat breakfast
  • The stomach starts working again without getting proper rest time
  • Most health problems start from an overworked digestive system

By eating at 6:30 PM, his food gets fully processed by the time he goes to bed around 10 PM. This means his stomach also gets to rest along with the rest of his body. He believes that taking care of the stomach prevents most health issues from showing up.

Monday Through Tuesday Morning Fast

Another key element of Akshay’s daily routine is his weekly fast that runs from Sunday night until Tuesday morning. Meaning he goes a 36-hour stretch without food every week.

At the Your Body Already Knows book launch, Akshay Kumar shared that on Sunday he has a last meal of the week, and then, he doesn’t eat until Tuesday morning. He said this period of fasting each week really helps in keeping his body energized and feeling light!

For Akshay Kumar, he doesn’t see this as punishment or even a very big challenge. He considers it a natural way of letting his body rest in its daily processing of food. It’s been something he’s practiced for years, and it’s likely a contributing factor to his energy levels at 57 years old.

What He Actually Eats

Akshay Kumar doesn’t follow extreme food restrictions or cut out entire food groups from his meals. He focuses on eating natural, home-cooked food that’s mostly plant-based. His approach is about balance and timing rather than avoiding specific foods.

His typical day includes :

  • Morning: Chia pudding with berries, moong dal chillas, jowar pancakes, plant-based milk
  • Mid-day: Vegetable smoothies, fresh seasonal fruits, dry fruits and raisins
  • Afternoon: Lentil curry with tofu and rice, vegan pasta with spinach sauce
  • Evening (before 6:30 PM): Grilled vegetables, salads, or steamed cabbage rolls

The actor drinks plenty of water throughout the day and sticks to eating on time to keep his energy steady. He stays away from processed foods and doesn’t rely on supplements. Everything he eats is simple and easy for the body to handle.

No Heavy Training Required

What’s shocking about Akshay’s approach is that he doesn’t perform any conventional strength sessions or lift heavy equipment. He is 57 years old and keeps in shape by moving in different ways, not by loading his body and going through strenuous training.

The actor prefers activities such as rock climbing and martial arts. These are things he has done since he was a child. He makes his own action sequences in his movies, so that is exercise itself. He believes fitness is about keeping being active throughout the day; not being still for hours.

The Simple Approach That Works

What sets Akshay Kumar’s routine apart is the simplicity it adheres to and the ethics which don’t require expert intervention. It is all about three simple principles: eat early, fast weekly, and be active naturally.

Looking for ways to incorporate fun into your routine? Whether it’s a hockey league or Khelofun, you’ll discover numerous entertaining activities that keep life interesting while you aim for balance.

The actor is also very strict about his sleep and is in bed by 10 PM and does not go to important events at night. Being 10 PM is a good time for him to sleep because he eats his last meal at  6:30 PM, and it allows his body the time to digest food before sleep.

Why This Routine Makes Sense

Akshay’s approach addresses something most people ignore: giving the digestive system adequate rest. Modern schedules often mean eating late and waking up to eat again immediately, which puts constant pressure on the stomach.

His Monday fast creates a natural reset that lets the entire digestive system take a break. Combined with early dinners, this means his body gets regular rest periods throughout the week. The actor credits this simple combination for keeping him free from common health problems.

Unlike trendy programs that change every few months, Akshay Kumar has stuck to these same habits for years. He doesn’t believe in crash programs or extreme restrictions that are hard to maintain long-term. His routine is something he can follow consistently, which is what makes it actually work.

Whether it’s meal timing or finding balance in daily activities through platforms like Khelofun, consistency matters more than perfection.

Making It Work For Anyone

What is appealing about Akshay’s routine is that it doesn’t rely on special equipment, expensive food, or expert guidance and anyone can simply eat sooner and start fasting out of the week. But you have to understand the why, not just follow the advice without understanding it.

We can begin in small steps, we can simply start moving the last meal of the day an hour closer to dinner time. Also with the weekly fast we can start with small periods of fasting and extend it once we get comfortable. The key is to be consistent with the habits we create so we can work to keep those habits for years, instead of weeks.

At 57 years old Akshay shows us that simple, consistent habits can defeat the complicated programs every time. More importantly Akshay Kumar shows us that wellness can be simple, uncomplicated, and affordable – all it takes is discipline and bringing the body what it needs.
